Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is an operation to change the shape of the nose. The type of rhinoplasty depends on which particular area of the nose needs correction. The nose can be straightened, made smaller or bigger and bumps may be removed. The shape of the tip of the nose can be changed. Pieces of cartilage or bone may be removed from or added to the nose to change its shape. Sometimes the wall that separates the nose into right and left (nasal septum) is twisted which may need to be straightened.
Rhinoplasty is performed due to following reasons:
- To increase or reduce the size of nose.
- Change the shape of tip of the nose.
- Straighten the nose.
- To help in relieving breathing problem.
- To narrow the openings of nostrils.
In this procedure, facial soft tissues are lifted, excess skin is removed from there and skin is draped back over the newly repositioned contours. Face lift wont affect the quality of facial skin.
Surgical face lift is usually done under general anesthesia and involves hospitalisation for a couple of days.
Properly selected cases can get the same benefit from non surgical face lift, which involves placing threads under the skin to provide the lifting effect so that the face gets a more youthful appearance.
