Genioplasty

Genioplasty refers to the type of surgery related to chin. This surgery helps to balance the appearance of facial features. Chin length can be increased or decreased with the help of this surgery.

This procedure is done in order to position the bone that supports the chin. If implant is needed, then silicone is used which is placed on the chin. An incision is done inside the lower lip of the patient so that area can be corrected. Once the chin bone is to be repositioned, an implant may be placed to correct the area.

Chin surgery is usually carried under local anaesthesia. Some bruising and swelling may occur for first few days and patient gets recovered normally from 1-2 weeks.Genioplasty can be done as an isolated procedure or more commonly combined with other procedures like rhinoplasty or orthognathic surgeries.
